began with an interest in antique ceramics and learned from ancient pottery from both East and West including the Joseon Dynasty, antique blue-and-white porcelain, and Delft ware exploring expressions that blend a modern sensibility with the time-honored arabesque pattern.
Born in 1972 in Fukushima Prefecture
Graduated from the Department of Design, Evening Division, Tama Art University
After working as a graphic designer,
Completed the Aichi Prefectural College of Ceramic Technology in 2002
Creates work in Kokubunji, Tokyo
Moved to Mure, Takamatsu, Kagawa Prefecture in 2018

drawing on his connections to Southeast Asia—a region that also influenced Seto ware creates works in the Annam and Sometsuke styles, which possess a beauty reminiscent of antique ceramics,
rendered in solid, well-defined forms.

_ TAKUJI HAYASH / 林 拓児 @hayashitakuji_
expresses a soft green glaze with a soft, antique-like charm and a cool, edgy feel, featuring fine craquelure subtly tinted by acorn tannins.
1977 Born as the fourth-generation head of a pottery studio in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture.
2002 Graduated from the Department of Functional Materials Chemistry
at Kurashiki University of Science and the Arts
2004 Studied the basics of glaze formulation at the Seto Ceramic Technology Center
2006 Completed the Aichi Prefectural College of Ceramic Technology
Began creating his own work while working as a potter for four years at a pottery studio
2010 Built a kiln in Kamishimono, Seto
2016 Built a kiln and moved to Okayama Prefecture
